Spending with your Oportun Visa Debit Card

How do I receive an Oportun Visa Debit Card?

Your Oportun Visa Debit Card will be sent to you by mail and should arrive within 7-10 business days after you’ve enabled banking for your account.

After receiving your card, activate it by tapping the banner in the Oportun app or by calling the toll-free number found on the back of the card.

Your PIN will be sent to you via text after your card is activated, and you can change it at any time. 

Updating your PIN

You can change your PIN by calling the toll-free number located on the back of your physical card. 
Our automated system will guide you through updating that to a four-digit number of your choice.


Where can I find an ATM?

Oportun has partnered with Allpoint® to provide access to its network of over 55,000 ATMs. Withdrawing cash using your Oportun Visa Debit Card from ATMs in the Allpoint network is fee-free.
Allpoint ATMs are conveniently found in most retailers like Walgreens, CVS, and Target - just look for the green Allpoint logo. You can locate the machine nearest you on https://www.allpointnetwork.com.

In the Oportun app:
1) Tap the Bank tab
2) Select the Transfer Money button
3) Choose Find ATM 

Are there fees for using an ATM?

There are no fees for using ATMs on the Allpoint network.*

You can use ATMs outside of the Allpoint network for a $2.50 fee per withdrawal. ATM owners may charge additional fees.
Fees are deducted from your Spending balance along with the withdrawal amount you select.

What is my Oportun Visa Virtual Debit Card?

Your virtual debit card allows you to spend online safely without your physical card in hand. Enter your card info from the Oportun app for online shopping, food delivery, in-app purchases, and most anything else you buy virtually.

How do I find my Oportun Visa Virtual Debit Card info?

1) While on the Bank tab, tap into your Spending balance info
2) On the next screen, tap the banner that displays the last four of your Spending debit ("View card & account info")
3) Next to Card details, tap the Show button to see your card number, expiration date, and CVC


What does "LIMITED USE" under my virtual debit card mean?

"Limited use" just describes where you can use your virtual Spending and Bills debit cards.

Your virtual debit card numbers can be used online when making purchases, paying bills, or subscribing to services, but it can't be used in-person at a store. 

Instead, you can use the physical Oportun Visa Debit Card that you receive in the mail for in-person shopping and dining.

Can I set up a mobile wallet with my Oportun Visa Debit Card?

Banking supports linking your Oportun Virtual Visa Debit Card to mobile wallets, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. 

While both your Spending and Bills balances have virtual debit cards, we strongly recommend using your Spending virtual debit card for mobile wallet purchases and reserving your Bills debit card for regularly occurring auto-payments.

How do I set up a mobile wallet?

Depending on what phone you use, you'll want to follow the instructions provided by your mobile wallet service to add a card:

Apple Pay

Google Pay

Samsung Pay
